This sovereign constitutional monarchy is a federation of seven emirates, consisting of Abu Dhabi (the UAE’s capital), Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Sharjah, and Umm Al Quwain. Culture in the UAE reflects traditional Arab and Islamic values, with noticeable influences from Persian, Indian, and East African cultures apparent in the country’s architecture, folk arts, and fashion. The people of the UAE are referred to as “Emiratis” – they are sociable and warm hosts who treat guests with grace. They use the customary greeting “As-salam alaikum”, meaning “peace be upon you”. If an Emirati greets you with “As-salam alaikum”, be sure to return it with “Wa alaikum as-salam”, which means “and upon you be peace”.

Upon arriving in the UAE, participants of our Cultural Exchange Programs should follow a series of arrival procedures and immigration customs before commencing their respective internship or management training journeys. Participants will also need to exchange their currency for the local currency and acquire local mobile providers if necessary.
