Teach English in Asia
Teach English as a 2nd language (to speaker of other languages)
In collaboration with an industry leading organization specializing in providing teacher training and certification courses in Asia, RMC helps prepare students with the skills and experience to be excellent teachers in the unique teaching environments that exist across Asia.
We provide 120 Hour in-class Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification courses, cultural orientations, and teacher job placement. Our group possesses extensive work experience in the fields of TESOL, adult and young-learner education, and international recruiting. RMC and our team of professionals shares a love and passion for teaching English and giving back to the community.
The reason for doing what we do is that we recognize the impact that teaching English can have on local communities to enhance employment opportunities, build bridges between cultures and develop global citizens. We prepare our teachers to go out into the field and make a difference in the lives of children and bring passion and commitment every day.
We offer two program options:
TESOL Course + Placement
Our 120-hour TESOL/TEFL course provides significant instruction on the theories, strategies and techniques of teaching English as a second/foreign language. The course also includes a strong cultural and linguistic foundation to prepare students to teach and live in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Our TESOL/TEFL courses are internationally accredited by the Online TEFL and TESOL Standards Agency (OTTSA).
Our TESOL philosophy is based on several core tenants:
We train students based on a global ‘best practices’ approach to teaching English as a second language that incorporates the direct method, communicative approach, and task-based teaching approach within a comprehensive lesson planning structure of Present, Practice, and Produce.
We focus on teacher creativity. In many environments, teachers cannot depend on technology, so they must be both creative and resourceful in their lesson planning and execution. Technology is a tool, not a crutch. Our teachers must harness their own creative spirit during the course and perform in a low-tech environment.
We require extensive teaching practice. We believe that proper education in TESOL must involve praxis, or the application of theory in a classroom setting. The TESOL course provides at least 16 hours of teaching practice whereby students are placed in a classroom as teachers, under instructor supervision and assessment, during the course. The process entails, preparing lesson plans for classrooms of different ages and skill levels, delivering those lessons, receiving peer and instructor feedback, and adjusting lesson plans and teaching approaches based on that feedback.
We can accept placement only candidates at any time of the year. Placement-only candidates will join one of the in-country orientation weeks before heading to their placements. During the orientation week, candidates will meet with the placements team to discuss their preferences and work together to find a suitable placement. By doing the in-country orientation, the participant will be able to experience a full cultural program as part of a group, meeting many other teachers who are also going to teach in Southeast Asia.
As the placement process is expedited for placement only candidates, participants must have their teacher profile documents prepared in advance and they must be submitted to RMC before they arrive in the country.
