GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Up to 35 years oldย
Enrolled students (vocational, college, University) of any major
Reference letter from school, college, or university
Congratulations! You’ve just finished the most important step by sending in your application. As soon as your form is received, our team will get to work behind the scenes, going over your resume, matching your profile with positions at renowned international hotels, and preparing you to travel to your destination country with confidence.
One important idea to understand is: The recruitment process is not about who is the most perfect when they submit, but who is the most prepared to go through the process. Many candidates delay their registration because they feel their CV is not perfect or they are afraid of being rejected. In fact, CV refinement and professional readiness are part of RMC Asia’s services. The โSubmitโ button is the gateway to guidance, not a final judgment.
In this article, I will outline the 8 complete stages of your journey with RMC Asia, from the screening process to the moment you land at your dream hotel.
First Impression Matters ๐
Once the form or CV is received, the recruitment team conducts a manual screening rather than simply scanning it with an AI machine. Our team reads the CV, looks at the short answers on the form, and other relevant data or information. The focus is not only on โwhether you have a lot of good experience,โ but also on โwhether your profile can thrive in an international hospitality environment.โ People with the potential and a strong desire to develop in a global environment are the ones we want to hire. If your resume doesn’t meet international standards or contains missing information, you won’t be rejected immediately. Instead, you’ll be helped to make it better. According to one of our career advisors, the things that often cause candidates to be eliminated at this stage are not one or two words on their resume, but rather issues with documents or mismatched expectations. A real example:
Does not fit the general requirements for working in the hospitality industry, such as being physically fit, well-groomed, or possessing the appropriate personality. Also, candidates must have a clean record, not use illegal drugs, not have a criminal record, and be able to get a letter of recommendation from their college or previous job. Passports with a validity period of less than 6 months. Many countries with work visas require a minimum of 6 – 12 months remaining validity, and some hosts require even longer.
Errors in personal contact details, such as a mistyped email address or phone number, prevent the RMC Asia team from contacting the candidate to proceed to the next stage.
Consultation Call that Turns Dreams into Real Plans
If you pass the initial screening, you will receive an email invitation for a consultation call. This is not an interview! It is a crucial conversation between you and our career advisor. Here, you will receive direction and advice on opportunities that are appropriate and realistic for you.
We will discuss your desired department, destination, or country, as well as your career goals, preferred work environment, program duration, and start date. Additionally, the advisor will update you on the department’s current needs, the partner hotel portfolio, and the hiring season.
It’s Time to Glow Up: Make Your Resume Competitive on an International Level! ๐
This is a major transformation! After the consultation call, let’s start putting together your profile so that it is ready to be presented to international hotels and resorts. RMC Asia will certainly help improve your CV into a professional narrative, which not only states what you do, but also the impact of your actions.
What was previously โWorked at a cafรฉ, served customers, cleaned tables.โ We’ll transform it with a touch of magic into โBarista & Front-line Service at a cafรฉ with 200+ customers/day, handled an average of 80 transactions per shift, received 4 internal awards for service excellence, and trained 3 new staff members.โ
Of course, itโs not just your resume; there are other documents youโll need, such as your passport, transcripts or academic transcripts, recommendation letters, skill certificates, and clear professional photos.
The โMatchmakingโ Process with Partner Hotels
Once your profile is ready, RMC Asia will actively promote you to partner hotels. The system is not โpost and wait,โ but rather โmatchmakingโ based on departmental needs and work culture. There are three possible outcomes that often arise:
The hotel is immediately interested and requests an interview.
The hotel requests minor changes (shift preferences, start date).
The profile is saved for the pool and will be contacted when there is a need.
The RMC Asia team will forward your profile to hotel HR, sometimes accompanied by a brief note outlining the candidate’s strengths, so it’s not just about helping with administrative duties. Therefore, don’t be afraid to emphasize your strongest attributes to your advisor!
Time to Shine: Tips & Tricks to Ace an International Hotel Interview ๐
The interview with the host company is the most crucial part of the entire process. They will invite you for an interview if they find your profile interesting. This process is your initial opportunity to have a face-to-face conversation with the host, who is usually a manager, HR representative, or a department supervisor. The online interview’s objective is simple: they want to know more about you than just your resume.
At the beginning of the interview, you will usually be asked to provide an overview of yourself, your background, and your motivations for wanting to be a part of the international program. Instead of reading your resume, the best response is to describe your experiences and why you believe you are ready to move forward.
The interview then moves on to questions about your handling of real-life circumstances. If you’re applying for a front desk or guest service job, they want to see that you can deal with people. When a guest is unhappy, for example, the interviewer wants to know how you handle the situation by listening first, showing empathy, and then offering a solution. It is not a response you have committed to memory that is being assessed, but rather your professional thought and behavior.
Candidates for culinary or kitchen jobs are usually interviewed on their understanding of kitchen work standards, cleanliness, and food safety. They want to know if you understand basic protocols like cross-contamination, safe food storage, and keeping a clean workspace. Whether or not you understand that a professional kitchen demands discipline is more important than how many recipes you can learn by heart.
If you want comprehensive interview tips specifically for kitchen roles, RMC Asia has prepared special content on pre-screening that you can use as a guide and tips to navigate the process effectively.
At this stage, you certainly won’t be facing everything alone. RMC Asia will always assist you with your preparation prior to the interview, including how to properly introduce yourself, respond to situational questions, and project a professional demeanor on camera. In addition to helping you get accepted, our top priority is for you to appear prepared, self-assured, and capable of expressing who you truly are!
Congratulations, you made it! Now it’s time to read the offer letter carefully.
If you pass, you will receive an offer letter or training agreement from the host company. Here you can see details such as contract duration, accommodation provided, allowances, working hours & shifts, training period, termination clause, and other benefits such as insurance. We encourage you against signing this letter right away without carefully reading the frequently missed details, like the housing terms (whether you will be sharing a room, the distance to the hotel, and the facilities), or the provisions regarding overtime and holidays.
RMC Asia will make sure you comprehend the terms of the contract and assist you in asking the host any questions you may have, so you don’t need to worry about missing anything. Your status will change from candidate to official program participant as soon as you sign and agree to the terms of the agreement.
๐โ๏ธ Conquering the Visa Process Without Drama
The official documents are complete, now it’s time to move on to the most crucial process: the VISA!
Because this process is known to be complicated, participants frequently worry about it the most. You don’t need to worry, though, because we won’t leave you to fend for yourself or your own ignorance. To ensure a smooth visa application process, everything is done in the exact order that is specified.
RMC assists you from document briefing, application process, to coordination with the host company. The visa process can take from 2 weeks to several months depending on the embassy, season, and document completeness.
Common critical mistakes:
Submitting documents with incorrect file formats or sizes.
Passport photos that do not meet embassy standards.
Passports with a validity period shorter than required.
Inconsistent data between the RMC form and the visa form (name, date of birth, spelling).
At this stage, we will also provide you with a document checklist and assist you in reviewing everything before submitting it.
Welcome Aboard!
Congratulations! You’ve reached your final application step and reached your destination! Before you leave, you will receive a pre-departure guide that will tell you what to expect on your first day, emergency contacts, required documents, and when to get to the airport. After you exit the airport, you won’t have to worry about getting lost. RMC Asia and your host company will have your arrival covered. After being led to a designated pickup location, you will be brought to your lodging or staff housing. Even hotels that provide airport pickup are available!
Following that, you’ll attend an orientation to learn more about your new workplace, SOPs, your boss, and your surroundings. Cultural adaptation is often the most challenging task, ranging from work schedules and cross-cultural interactions to something as simple as eating habits.. Typically, RMC Asia and the host organization prepare a quick lesson on work ethics and local culture. And most importantly, what sets RMC Asia apart from others is that our support doesn’t stop once you arrive.
RMC Asia will continue to assist you during the program. If you need assistance with administrative duties, are having difficulties adjusting, or would like to discuss career development, you can always contact our team. You won’t ever be left alone because we want your experience to be positive, secure, and valuable. From the first to the last day of the program, you will receive complete support.
