Thais are content with who they are and what they have. They are people who radiate happiness, humility, and patience, reflecting the Thai expression “Pen Rai”, which characterizes their general approach to life: to enjoy. Thais also take immense pride in their cultural heritage and delight in sharing it with visitors. Their traditional greeting, known as the “wai”, is a gesture of respect. If a local offers you a wai, it’s appreciated to reciprocate the gesture!

Thailand is generally a safe country to visit, but it’s advisable to exercise caution, especially when traveling solo and interacting with strangers. Encouragingly, Thailand’s police have been largely effective in ensuring the safety of their visitors.

Thailand is a cost-effective country to travel around, offering lots of very affordable things. An example is food. The average cost of dining at local restaurants in Thailand is around 50 – 150 baht (approximately USD 1 – 4), with other cheap options like street food vendors and night markets. As for accommodations, the choices and prices vary – starting as low as USD 8 per night!

Thailand’s main spoken language is Thai. However, English is widely spoken there as a second language, and many Thais have studied English either in school or through practice with foreign friends.

Thailand is one of Southeast Asia’s go-to destinations for travelers, boasting popular cities such as Bangkok, Krabi, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. The Land of Smiles offers a multitude of attractions, some of  which include:

The Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew – These are two of Thailand’s most visited attractions. Both stunning sites were strategically built next to the Chao Phraya River to protect the palace from potential invasions. Here, you can tour the temple and immerse yourself in its rich historical ambiance!

Thai Floating Markets One of the highly-flocked tourist areas in the country, the floating markets in Bangkok will take you to a unique experience of riding a boat while shopping at the same time. You can even purchase and dine local food that is cooked right on top of the boat!

Krabi’s Enchanting Beaches – Located on southern Thailand’s west coast, Krabi showcases limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests, and over a hundred offshore islands where travelers can submerge themselves in its natural beauty, with Railay and Ao Nang ranking among its favorite beaches.

- What to expect upon arrival? -

Upon arriving in Thailand, participants of our Cultural Exchange Programs should follow a series of arrival procedures and immigration customs before commencing their respective internship or management training journeys. They will also need to exchange money for the local currency and acquire local mobile providers. However, there is no need for our participants to worry because RMC Asia team will guide them through every step of the way!
